NEED FOR
FEEDING OUR SOULS ++++++++++++++++++
Ø Catholic
author, Paul Wilkes, has good insight on how we spend R time
Ø He says
thumbing through a celebrity magazine or watching reality TV show won’t kill us
spiritually
Ø However, if
repeatedly choose things like these rather than reading or watching something
of substance, we’re failing to feed R souls
Ø When R minds
R numbed by action images or flooded w/ ads for latest product we don’t need or
influenced by violent words & actions, may become deadened to God’s
presence & the spiritual
JESUS FEEDS
SOULS ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø In gospel,
Luke notes those who come to J exper more than wise teaching
Ø Learn from
him & R healed or made whole
Ø & in all
this, they come 2 realize Js’ unique source of power
Ø In J,
presence & holiness of G become real 2 to them
Ø J takes them
beyond surface & shallow of life
Ø Touches them
w/ meaning, purpose, hope, & life
Ø That’s what
people in today’s gospel story experience & J offers same thing 2 us
SOME WAYS TO
DO SO +++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø Today let’s
do something 2 feed R soul
Ø Perhaps noticing
fresh air & beautiful sunshine
Ø Or it’s a
quiet moment praying for those we love
Ø Or reading a
book or article by a spiritual writer
Ø Or listening
to a beautiful music
Ø Or watching
program or a movie that speaks to R heart & spirit
CONCLUSION

Ø We’re
encouraged to do something to exper Lord’s presence & power today
Ø It can
quicken us, calm us, make us whole, as the people in today’s gospel story
experience.
