Thursday 6^th Week Easter

“A LITTLE WHILE” ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Ø  Jesus talks today about the phrase “a little while” and he has the disciples thoroughly confused

Ø  What Jesus probably means is that in “a little while” he’d leave them and ascend to the Father…

Ø  And that in a short time after that we would come again in his second coming

JESUS’ COMING +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Ø  For the community for which the 4^th Gospel is written, the return of Jesus takes place with the coming of the Spirit at Pentecost

Ø  W/ descent of the Spirit, Jesus returns & remains truly present and active in the midst of believers

Ø  And so Jesus could well say that in “a little while” he would be seen again, for Pentecost is always coming, and it’s always coming soon, very soon!

JESUS’ COMING IN OUR LIVES ++++++++++++++++++++

Ø  Jesus is always coming into our lives and always coming soon

Ø  It comes when the presence of Jesus is newly recognized, newly accepted, and newly served

Ø  This “soon” become the watchword for all believers

Ø  It puts the spirit of anticipation and discovery into our lives

Ø  It can fill us with courage and trust

Ø  It instills within us the constant eagerness to serve

Ø  All the qualities which Gospel seeks to inculcate:

o   Become the more pressing

o   They become more exciting

o   There’s an urgency to them…

Ø  because soon the Lord will come

CONCLUSION +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Ø  The Lord is always coming soon…

Ø  & he’s coming & coming in each moment, not 2 relieve us of the struggle, but 2 confirm us in it

Ø  This is the source of courage and abiding joy
