WHY KNOW THE ENDTIME?

Over past years we’ve experienced Y2K, Mayan
Calendar, Nostradamus’ predictions
Ø
Seems that every few years someone makes
proclamation giving exact date of end of world
Ø
This fascination is also seen in popular movies
such as The Day After Tomorrow,
Armageddon, Waterworld, and Mad Max
Ø
Why are we humans so obsessed with knowing when
the end of the world will come?
Ø
What signs will there be when all these things are
about to happen?
TO BE MINIMALLY READY
+++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
Simply answered, it appears we want to be ready
Ø
But Christ does not give us an answer we desire
Ø
We’ll never know day or hour
Ø
Rather, we must B vigilant & always B ready
Ø
This is not 2 “keep us on our toes” or J to flex
his superiority over us
Ø
Our focus should not be on what is minimally
required to obtain salvation, but instead on fullness of life
THE SECRET TO MAXIMAL
NOT MINIMAL ++++++++++
Ø
Earthly life is not a dramatic theater where G
is looking 2 test us
Ø
J came into world that we may have life – life 2
fullest
Ø
Every day is filled w/ G’s goodness, we simply
need eyes to see it
Ø
God’s goodness is the smile of a resident, the
deep sharing in small group, the quiet stillness of a sunset, the phone call
from a friend or family member, fond memories of the holidays
Ø
We only need eyes 2 C G’s goodness in small
actions & R surroundings
CONCLUSION +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
And when we condition r eyes, ears, hands, & hearts 2 C, hear, do, & feel
Lord’s presence, we enter into Christ’s fullness of life
Ø
& w/ that, we’ll no longer ask questions in
order 2B ready 4 the end
Ø
We will already be ready to go home
