MIRACLE OF 34TH STREET +++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø The Miracle of 34th Street is a Christmas classic
Ø The 1947 it earned Academy Award for Best Original Story
Ø Who could ever forget Natalie Wood, as Susan Walker,
little girl whose doubt in existence of Santa was transformed
Ø Became 1 of most enduring holiday movies
Ø It continues to draws its appeal by reaffirming ideas of faith in a
modern, cynical world
HOPE OF A BABE IN A MANGER ++++++++++++++++++
Ø Reaffirming faith in a modern cynical world is what our
business is about as believers
Ø It’s not faith in Santa, but in truth of enchantment &
wonder of a God of the universe who came to mankind as a Babe in a manger
Ø So many don't buy it, or are unmoved by reality of Xmas
in way they live lives, just check out malls/TV
Ø Net effect of a lack of faith in Christ = 2 turn off
color to life; to become like little Susan Walker, whose childhood was dour,
expressionless, unromantic, and hopeless
APPLICATION +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø A dour, expressionless, unromantic, and hopeless
childhood may well strike a chord in our own lives!
Ø But unbelief turns off the color and turns down the sound
of life as it was meant to be lived
Ø It is faith in JC, & faith in God who changes things,
who interrupts R lives w/ glorious news of salvation by repentance & faith
in his son, turns on sound, lights up soul, & causes mute men 2 shout 4 joy!
Ø Are you ready for the “interruption”!
Ø It is the hope that exists among us here at SLI
