MOSES & JESUS:
CATALYSTS +++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
This week we have heard in Exodus how Moses, who
was surrendered to the river by his mother and rescued by pharaoh’s daughter,
becomes God’s chosen one to shake things up in Egypt
Ø
Moses becomes a catalyst for change and
subsequently leads the Israelites and those of a mixed ancestry out of Egypt
Ø
This week we heard in Matthew that Jesus comes
not to bring peace, but division, shaking things up so much that in today’s
Gospel the Pharisees begin to plot to destroy him
Ø
How can we shake
things up to further the Kingdom of God?
Ø
How can we be catalysts of change for the
individual worlds in which each of us lives?
EMPOWERED AS
CATALYSTS +++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
A catalyst, when applied to a person, is someone
who precipitates an event
Ø
Moses & Jesus give us some very important
lessons about being catalysts
Ø
1st we can continue to dispose
ourselves to God’s presence, listen for God’s call and be open to what God is calling
us to
Ø
The revelation of God’s will may not come in the
form of a burning bush, but God will get our attention, on that you can count!
Ø
2nd as we respond to God’s call, we
can remember to ask God for help as difficulties and struggles arise in
carrying it out
Ø
Jesus through prayer, was given the strength to
carry out the Father’s will; God will also respond in our times of need
Ø
3rd we can persevere and rely on
God’s assistance to “part the waters” of our difficulties
The first step to become a catalyst +++++++++++
Ø
This week was an extraordinary opportunity to
dispose ourselves to God’s presence
Ø
As we experience that, the presence will flower
into action
Ø
Our prayer will then be for God to remove the obstacles
that keep us from bringing forth the Kingdom
