ANGEL’S ASSURED +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
Today on this feast of
the Guardian Angels we hear the words of Exodus in a fresh way:
Ø
“See, I am sending an angel before you, to guard you
on your way and bring you to the place I have prepared. Be attentive to
him and heed his voice”
OUR GUARDIAN ANGEL +++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
The idea of having a guardian angel
may strike us as a sweet memory from childhood
Ø
But every one of our lives has been
blessed w/ individuals who have given us direction,
Ø
Individuals who have offered us
kindness and support,
Ø
Who have saved us from ourselves
Ø
Some of these good folks have
traveled w/ us throughout our lives
Ø
Some have “appeared” just at the
right time and then “disappeared” from our lives
Ø
Angels, perhaps!
AS MESSENGER +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
Even to us jaded adults, there is
an important truth in the idea of having an unseen heavenly companion
Ø
The truth is that God is w/ us in
the love of family, friends, community or parishioners.
Ø
That God makes his presence known
to us in the voice of our individual consciences
Ø
That God’s wisdom is mirrored in
the wisdom of parents and teachers, and loyal friends
Ø
God is very present in the “angels”
– from the Greek word for “messenger” – who guide us and help us and protect us
CONCLUSION +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
With eyes of faith and with hearts
of gratitude for God's constant providence …
Ø
We realize that angels continue to walk
among us in the lives of those who embody God’s presence in our midst
Ø
In fact, we too can become “angels”
when we become “messengers” of God’s peace and blessing to others
Ø
One wonders whose feast day it
really may be…
Ø
My angels or my being an angel to
another!
