TENT OF MEETING
THEN ++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
A wonder that G of heaven & earth should feely choose 2 make
self available 2 humans 4 conversation!
Ø
In days of Ancient Israel that presence localized outside the camp
of Israel at sacred spot called “Tent of Meeting”
Ø
A place nearby camp & it existed at G’s discretion & was
somehow under G’s control
Ø
When Cloud descended, G was mysteriously “open 4 business” &
therefore vulnerable 2 prayers & complaints of Moses
TENTS OF MEETING
NOW +++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
If such a meeting can occur in any 1 spot on globe, who’s 2 say a
meeting w/ G is restricted 2 that location alone?
Ø
Could not same divine largess B experienced under imaginary tent
erected at moment of say:
o
A glorious sunset?
o
Or when parent 1st holds newborn baby & peers into
those open eyes in wondrous love?
o
Or the celebration of an ordination or reception of final vows?
Ø
Let’s press it a bit by way of application and add:
o
A person’s sudden insight into personal selfishness
o
Or pain caused another by a thoughtless word
o
Or an account of Pope Francis’ encounter w/ 1,000 bishops
o
Or 3 million pilgrims on Copacabana beachfront as “Tents of
Meeting” with God?
CONCLUSION
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
Wherever we meet God under any “tented” experience…
Ø
And by “tented” I meant an encounter that personally touches my
heart and has me “awake” to God’s revelation in the moment…
Ø
We are literally transformed into “seeds” for the Kingdom (Gospel)
to be scattered to any and all who encounter us
Ø
We stand humbled before a God who calls us to partnership, not
groveling
Ø
We also stand under the watchful eye of a God who promises to burn
off what is not worthy of God’s presence in us
