Thursday 19th Week in Ordinary Time
August 17, 2017
PRIMACY OF FAITH FOR FORGIVENESS +++++++++++
Ø  Without faith, it is difficult to forgive others who have offended you
Ø  You need faith to recognize that through the event of the Cross, Jesus Christ has forgiven you all your sins
Ø  St. Paul tells us J died for us while still living in sin
Ø  He forgave us and offered his life to save us even before we asked for forgiveness
A NEW STARTING POINT +++++++++++++++++++++
Ø  As he forgives us, he invites us 2 forgive others
Ø  We should not place limits on how much we forgive
Ø  Forgive generously as Jesus continues to forgive us
Ø  There is no offense one can commit against you that is greater than that which you have committed against God
Ø  If he whom we have offended the most forgive you, why can you not in the same way forgive those who have offended you?
Ø  Forgiveness brings us healing. It makes us whole. Until we forgive, we do not feel whole
Ø  Our moods always change when we encounter the person that has offended us
THE CHRISTIAN DIFFERENCE ++++++++++++++++++++
Ø  As XTNS, the right thing to do is ask 4 forgiveness even if we’re the ones that have been offended
Ø  Forgiveness from the heart does not mean that you forget that the event ever took place
Ø  It means not holding the offence against the person that offends you
Ø  This also means not keeping records of offences you have forgiven
CONCLUSION ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø  Like Jesus, forgive without counting the offences
Ø  Forgiving creates us most clearly in the likeness of Jesus himself
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
