Ø  They include suffering of innocent, prosperity of wicked, & seeming indifferent of G 2 tragedies
JOSEPH’S BROTHERS & TENANT FARMERS ++++++++
Ø  Today’s readings involve two great and parallel stories of the Jewish and Christian faiths
Ø  The Gospel refers 2 central story of the XTN faith
Ø  It’s story of suffering, death, & triumph of Jesus
Ø  Here, it is of course, alluded to in the story of the tenant farmers and the owner’s son
Ø  Joseph’s story (not complete here) is so well known that we find ourselves fast-forwarding it
Ø  We can see him years later, as result of his bros’ treachery, become most powerful man in Egypt, where he’s able 2 save his family in famine
Ø  Both stories tell us more vividly than any theology or philosophy could that God can bring good, even superlative good, out of human tragedy
BELIEVERS & NON-BELIEVERS +++++++++++++++++++

Ø  It’s that these negative things in R lives don’t have last word
Ø  Hard part of faith is hanging on & continuing 2 trust when cancer persists, tragedies follow 1 another, 2 many relationship sour, & hardship follows upon hardship
