CONDITIONS FOR PEACE ++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø Sometimes what we thought we wanted doesn’t
look like what we asked for
Ø If interior peace had to do with remaining unruffled
and free from irritation, anxiety, concern, frustration, and exhilaration…
Ø If it meant we never had to suffer from the
nonsense of self-importance or self-disgust
Ø If it provided exemption from reactions to my
failure, inadequacy, and the incompatible qualities of my neighbor, I might rightly
junk the possibility of ever having it
PEACE COMES FROM MY CHOICES ++++++++++++++
Ø I’d like to suggest that real interior peace is
achieved by making choices:
o Choosing to turn one’s head away from
irritations we have no obligation to brood over
o Choosing to trust a God who gets romantic at
the wrong time
o There he is, trusting G & taking our
hands off the steering wheel of our lives and letting him do the steering even when
we’d rather do the steering
PEACE ASSURED +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø The 1ST reading real clear about
trust & its effect
Ø Trust
God and God will help you;
trust in him, and he will direct your way
trust in him, and he will direct your way
Ø Wait
for his mercy,
turn not away lest you fall.
Trust him, and your reward will not be lost
turn not away lest you fall.
Trust him, and your reward will not be lost
APPLICATION ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø Trust seems to be everything
Ø Like the complete trust of a dear friend, it’s
a source 4 me, in the moment 2 hope, 2 have faith
Ø At those moments when I’m determined to see
in the things I most want to argue about, thrash under, or pay God back for…
Ø To see instead, a series of invitations into
the wide places of God’s heart and know God’s love in a new way
CONCLUSION +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø Trust
him, and your reward will not be lost
