HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS
+++++++++++++++++
Ø
One of the most important and, in fact,
essential experiences we as humans have is our relationships
Ø
Actually, human relationships are based on the
relationship that we see in God as Father, Son, and HS
Ø
Everyone will admit that the worst possible
punishment is solitary confinement
Ø
In fact, that would be the best definition of
hell…
Ø
Total and eternal isolation from any and all
relationships, especially from God
DIVINE RELATIONSHIPS +++++++++++++++++
Ø
And so Jesus expresses the basic truth that all
human flourishing is based on relationship…
Ø
First with God and then with each other
Ø
In other words, the deepest of all relationships
goes beyond blood or cultural ones
Ø
That is why our Catholic theology is not a
theology of a heaven composed of “God and
me and no one else”
Ø
Rather, it is God, me, and everyone else
HUMAN LOVING ++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
Some XTNS may believe that heaven is a matter of
individuals eternally praising & loving G alone
Ø
On the contrary, in Jesus we see there’s nothing
that makes G happier than seeing his children loving 1 another
Ø
God doesn’t need us to love him, though we will,
of course
Ø
He needs us to love each other; this gives him
the greatest praise
Ø
Just as mothers and fathers, teachers and
pastors cannot be happier than when they see those in their care loving and
tending each other
Ø
We imitate J most perfectly then by loving one
another
CONCLUSION ++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø
Let 3 reasons then motivate our loving and
reaching out to others
o
That we are living the very life of the Trinity
o
That we are pleasing God by our actions
o
That we are transforming ourselves and others by
our actions
