Ø Jesus has returned to the F / no
longer visible
Ø Other half, looking down to ground
/ see footprints
Ø Imprints of Jesus’ feet, but again
no longer visible
PAINTING & SCRIPTURE +++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø Painting captures message in
readings
Ø “Jesus is lifted up before AA’s eyes in cloud & taken from sight”
Ø 2 angels: “Why do you stand there looking up?”
Ø Gospel: Before J leaves he
instructs AA / Make DD of all doing 2 things
o “Baptize them”
o “Teach all I’ve commanded you”
Ø Painting + SS + balance between
heaven & earth / looking up & down / in our sacs & how we’re to
live
OUR SACRAMENTS +++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø Our sacs are a balance of heaven
and earth
Ø Connectors if you will!
Ø “I baptize you in +…” We use words of Son of God
Ø At same time use water
Ø Connector: water becomes one with
the words!
Ø In Eucharist, words of J: “This is my body, blood”
Ø Again earth – bread & wine –
words divine
Ø Our sacs are mix & at 1 &
same time looking up and down ~ painting

Ø Nature (down)
Ø Maximizing both
Ø Whichever is stronger use as a
resource for other
Ø The flow, connection is primary
Ø From Grace: 2-fold intention of
the sacred word
Ø From Nature: move fr stress 2 joy
& live out of joy
CONCLUSION ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø Both this retreat and the Ascension
call us to balance our looking up and our looking down to the earth
Ø That balance will a spirituality
for our daily life
