HOUSE RESTORING ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ø “For God did not send his
Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved
through him” John 3: 16-21
Ø Many homeowners are committed to concepts of recycling, restoring,
and "repurposing"
Ø Rather than throwing out & buying new things, efforts made to "repurpose"
old & used
Ø New paint, new fabrics, new appointments give 2nd life
to old chair that may have old design but solid
Ø Become < aware of need 2 recycle 4 good of environment: metals,
wood, plastics, slated 4 landfills R reused in new products & furnishings
RESTORING RELATIONSHIPS +++++++++++++++++++++
Ø In Gospel, J speaks of G's relationship w/ us as one of
"restoration" – God disposes of no one
Ø God does not seek destruction of those who fail 2 realize G's
dream of humanity that mirrors his love
Ø God always seeks reconciliation w/ his sons & daughters, to
"restore" us to love, to "repurpose" us 2 lives of meaning &
fulfillment
Ø W/ Nicodemus, J speaks of God as loving Father who created us &
world out of love & seeks to restore his creation thru even greater act of
love
Ø God's becoming human so beloved humanity might realize God's dream
of becoming holy & sacred
Ø Despite our lack of confidence in things holy, despite our
obtuseness to the things of God, God is not satisfied w/ our struggling & dying
in junk heap
Ø Instead comes in person of Christ that we may become people God
created us to be
RESTORING THROUGH RECONCILIATION +++++++++++
Ø God is seeking to restore us to loving relationship right now, to
heal brokenness in own relationships w/ 1 another
Ø May we respond 2 reconciliation & become means 4 re-creating
existences of isolation & fear into lives of new meaning & purpose
