Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Ø We know when we really love someone, there are no limits to what we we’d do for the person

Ø You don’t measure or keep track of how much you did 4 them or wait 4 them 2 do same for you

Ø This is true of spouses of parents toward children, toward R parents, or cherished friends

Ø When U love someone, no price too high, no sacrifice is too great, if result = 2 bring happiness to the other person

WHEN THE FRAY BEGINS +++++++++++++++++++++++

Ø On other hand, once there are limits, the relationship starts to fray

Ø Once there are conditions, the relationship is obstructed

Ø Once the giving and taking are measured, the relationship starts to come apart

STORY OF JESUS ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Ø Story of Jesus is just such a story of love

Ø In Jesus, God empties himself of his very divinity and takes on humanity. That’s huge!

Ø And, as if the Incarnation is not enough, Jesus, the Son of God also takes on the cross

Ø Thus + becomes premier sign of unconditional, complete luv of G, who gives all of himself 4 us

TODAY’S FEAST ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Ø Today we celebrate Feast of Exaltation of Cross

Ø Today we focus ourselves on the cross & embrace it as sign of G’s perfect love 4 us – unconditional, complete, and immeasurable

CONCLUSION ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Ø As we honor the Cross, we also pray:

Ø May the cross of Christ inspire us to embrace this same kind of love within our marriages, families, and primary friendships
